Resize Image to 200KB
A 200KB limit leaves room for a sharp photo or a scanned page you can actually read. The tool below is set to 200KB. Upload your image and it compresses to the best quality that fits under the limit.

What You Can Fit Into 200KB
200KB is 204,800 bytes, twice the space of a 100KB cap. The difference is easiest to see on documents: fine print, stamps and handwriting that smear at smaller sizes usually stay legible here.
For photos, 200KB comfortably covers an image around 1200 to 1600 pixels wide at good quality. That is wider than most web pages display a single photo.
A full-resolution phone photo will generally need scaling down as well as compression to get this small. The tool does both proportionally and tells you how much it reduced the dimensions.

Where 200KB Uploads Make Sense
Scanned certificates and letters
When a portal collects supporting documents, someone has to read them. 200KB gives a single scanned page enough detail for that.
Higher-quality form photos
Some applications allow a larger photo than the usual 50KB or 100KB. Using the full allowance gives the reviewer a clearer picture.
Receipts and proof of purchase
Warranty claims and expense systems often want a photo of a receipt. Small printed text benefits from the extra room.
Photos people will look at closely
For a gallery or article image readers are likely to study, 200KB keeps the detail without making the page heavy.
How to Compress a Photo or Document to 200KB
- 1
Capture the document flat
Lay the page on a dark surface in good light, hold the phone straight above it and fill the frame. A square-on, evenly lit capture needs far fewer bytes to stay readable.
- 2
Upload it here
Add the image to the tool above. 200KB is already selected. Change it if your portal lists a different number.
- 3
Resize the image
Select Resize Image. The tool tries your original dimensions first and lowers the quality until the file fits.
- 4
Zoom in before you download
Open the Compressed tab and check the smallest text or finest detail. If it reads clearly, download it.
How to Keep Documents Readable at 200KB
- Crop away the desk or table around the page. Background texture is expensive and tells the reader nothing.
- Avoid photographing documents under a single overhead lamp. Uneven light creates gradients the encoder has to store.
- If several pages have to go into one 200KB upload, check whether the portal takes a PDF instead. Squeezing several pages into one image rarely stays readable.
- Use JPEG for scans with photos or coloured stamps. PNG is worth trying for very simple black-and-white pages with no paper texture.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a scanned document to 200KB?
Upload the scan to the tool on this page, keep the 200KB target and select Resize Image. Zoom into the result to check the smallest text before you download.
Cropping the scan to the edges of the page first gives the text more of the file to work with.
Is 200KB good quality for a photo?
For viewing on a screen, yes. A photo around 1200 to 1600 pixels wide usually looks clean at 200KB. It will not keep all the detail of a large original, but at normal viewing size the difference is hard to see.
My phone photo is 4MB. Can it get down to 200KB?
Yes. That is about a twentieth of the original, so expect the tool to reduce the dimensions as well as the quality. The aspect ratio is kept, and the result panel shows the final width and height.
Should I use 100KB or 200KB?
Use the largest size the site allows. If the limit is 200KB, compressing to 100KB throws away detail for nothing. Choose the smaller target only if you have another reason, such as page speed.
Can I pick my own target, like 150KB?
Yes. This page opens on 200KB, but the target field accepts any number from 5KB to 20MB. Type 150 and the tool works to that limit instead.
